Pumpkins, Donuts, Cider & MoreWe had so much fun on our visit to the Pumpkin Patch this year! It was a beautiful day and we were able to do everything on our list! We came after eating lunch at home and it worked perfectly for everyone's schedules. I guess one baby fell asleep at the end but that's ok. Farm AnimalsWe started with the farm animals and there were so many this year! We saw goats, pigs (giant hogs and tiny piglets, turkeys and even pet two ponies! Nut House and PLaygroundNext up was play time! They ran into the Hazelnut "Nut House" which is just a room with about a million hazelnuts to run around in. They love this part even though the entry is a little spooky and our middle daughter was a little hesitant at first. I went in with her to show her it was fun. Next up was the big slide and the boat which weren't crowded since it was right at lunch time. Another perk of eating an early lunch before coming. PUMPKIN PICKING TIMEAfter the kids played their hearts out, we went to the fields so each kiddo could pick their very own pumpkin. It was kind of funny watching them... one of the four year olds couldn't pull one off a vine and gave up. They all wanted their pumpkins to be unique which was cool. Some picked tall, others picked cinderellas and we ended up with a nice variety of unique and beautiful pumpkins! jumping housesThey had six or so jumping houses (not my favorite part because they were crowded) so we made a pitstop on our way to the donuts and cider. TricyclesWhile I waited in a little line for the donuts and cider, the big kids rode the tricycles around- so fun! Donuts and ciderThese are just the best donuts you'll ever eat! They make them fresh and they're still warm. We sat down and indulged under the shade of some pretty apple trees and then headed home. It was a simple, fun and delicious time. Pumpkin Patch Day is one of my favorite days of the year! Decorating with the Kids
We love to getting our tub of halloween decorations out and let the kids decide (for the most part) where to put everything! Their favorite decorations are the ones they can play with. Here's a little video we made to show how we decorated this year.
A few years ago, we got these adorable velvet pumpkins which are still holding up great. The artwork next to it was made by Adam's talented aunt. Thank you again for the beautiful art, Auntie Deb!
We hope it's not too spooky to have so many skeletons! I saw a family with two young children on a walk after putting this creepy one coming out of the ground. They were talking about our skeleton and said, "We love checking on him on our walks." So I decided we would change up his position every once in a while for the people who like seeing how he's doing. I live in a very Halloween obsessed place... haha!
There seems to always be a decoration trend of the year (at least in my neighborhood). Last year it was these cute bats, which some people have again this year.
Giant spiders and spiderwebs like this one seem to be a trend this year, too!
The biggest trend this year has to be witches and witches hats, especially hanging them! I'm sure somewhat because the movie Hocus Pocus 2 came out this year. We loved the movie and it wasn't too scary for our kiddos. Our favorite part was definitely when they rode on the robot vacuums which we are actually highly dependent on in our home. See our favorite robot vacuum and more of our must haves, here.
I know this is a huge surprise to some but kids make the floor really messy... luckily technology (this robot vacuum) is helping us out with that. Here are some of our other must haves to surviving three sets of twins in just five years.

Our first Halloween as a family of eight was so fun. I remember being exhausted getting everyones costumes on! I have a little trick that I've done for years... we have a dress rehearsal day where everyone makes sure their costumes fit and we get a great picture to post on Halloween. Then on the special day, we can just enjoy the moment knowing we have a photo ready to go. From carefree newlyweds… to a family of eight.
