Yoga and deep breathing have always helped me get through difficult situations. When I was recovering in the hospital after having the first set of twins, I remember a sweet nurse saw how much pain I was in. She gave me a sign that read, “Remember to Breathe” which in my mind, symbolized all of the yoga classes and breathing I had done up until this point. It got me through and Yoga, Meditation and deep breathing still help me on hard days. Whenever I don’t know where to turn or what to do, I go to my mom or do yoga. Yoga has saved my life in the past when going through tragic events or just trying to explore how to navigate my future. My yoga training in Austin was life changing and I’m so happy to share my passion of yoga! I teach virtual yoga classes and have videos for sale, check them out:

Even though we do have consequences, I know and I’ve seen that what works best is Positive Discipline. When the kids are learning a new skill like potty training or working on a behavior like treating the siblings kindly, I love to use positive discipline charts. I just draw a really basic grid and say, if you earn five stars, you get to do something special. I have learned that a non material reward works best, like having a “painting party” or a special lunch date with the grandparents or making our own play doh. Working toward something makes them feel proud and builds confidence. It also makes you feel better than saying stop doing that, repeatedly and you can usually get them to choose an activity that you’d like them to do anyway! Please feel free to comment how you stay calm in the chaos of parenting, below!
